They are building the stairs up into our attic conversion, right at this moment. By this evening we should be able to go up and take our first look around.
In other news, I have been asked to come for an interview this afternoon at one of the colleges I applied to. Slightly nervous, gotta plan a 5 minute film. I hope they like what I come up with.

10:34 pm - Tetsu goes to college
To escape from the disarray that is my life, I have signed up for two college courses. If accepted to one of them I will be studying television and video production. Its something I have had an interest in for years, and it means I will be out, doing something, rather than sitting in my house all the time, going to bed at 3am and waking up at midday. I have been doing that far too long and all it does is make me feel really crappy all of the time. It will be great to finally be back doing something constructive. I'm gonna head over to one of the colleges tomorrow because they are having an open day which means I can check out their production suite and equipment. The other college's open day is on Thursday. I will probably go to that, too. Really looking forward to this! It would be so awesome if I could make a career out of my hobby. I believe that the perfect job is the one that you enjoy. So fingers crossed I will get a place in one of the courses. I don't mind which as they are actually the same course, just at different colleges. There is a small waiting list for both of them, about three to five people I think, but I've been told that people drop out all the time so chances are I will get in. I hope so...
Also, I bought the new Blackmore's Night album, but I can't save it to iTunes because my new disk drive isn't reading any disks now for no apparent reason! Argh!!!

05:35 pm - Back from Italy
I spent a week in Italy with friends just there and had a great time. I don't think I've ever been so warm in my life. No joke, it was over 40 degrees every day and being inland there was little breeze to cool us down. But I survived. Anyways, I got to visit places like Venice and Verona and see all the old churches and Roman ruins and such. We also spent a day in a theme park and water park which was fun. I'm a little scared of those kamikaze water slides, but since my friends were all there I forced myself to go down it. :P
Here are some photos from the holiday...
These three are from the theme park we visited. They had a Stargate in one of these rides which presented an awesome photo opportunity.
The first two are from Venice and the third is the garden of the house that allegedly belonged to Juliet's family. You can see the balcony at the top right.
And this is the inside of the amphitheater in Verona. We went to the opera on the last night.

05:46 pm - Updating my journal because cornemuse (mysticfreak) told me to :P
There, happy now? :P
Well, the guys are currently laying a plasterboard covering right the way down the stairs and over the upstairs hall carpet. This is to protect it from dust and other things. Once this is complete they shall begin building work.

06:36 pm - Busy, busy, busy
Starting tomorrow, a team of builders are going to begin converting our loft into another bedroom and shower-room. Building work is supposed to take approximately five weeks, with the guys working Monday to Friday and possibly even some Saturdays. Work will begin at 9am each morning, which is a problem for me as I don't wake up until 10. :P The idea behind this is to give my brother a larger bedroom (his is TINY), give us a spare shower room and of course, increase the value of the house. I have seen the plans and its gonna be really cool when its complete, but there is a lot of work to be done; they need to raise all of the roof joists, build an extra flight of stairs, build a dormer window into the roof and fit the shower and all that stuff. So yeah... don't come to my house looking for somewhere peaceful to chill out. :P

04:37 pm - IMMA KILL TERRORISTS IN MAH FLYING IRON SUIT!
So, yesterday I went with my brother to see Iron Man. He enjoyed it, and okay, so did I, but to be honest it seemed kinda... well... dumb. I shall elaborate. Here we have Tony Stark, CEO, boss, whatever, of a multi-billion dollar weapons company. All his adult life he has been designing weapons and selling them to the US military to they can basically keep on top of the world and use the weapons against small cave-dwelling-desert-fighting-people. I don't think they were terrorists, their leader was jabbering on about conquering Asia. Anyway, that's not important... So all this while, Tony Stark is living in his big house in California with everything he could possibly want and comes off as a real asshole during the first part of the movie. He's like totally full of himself, the sort of guy you'd want to punch in the face.
But here's the stupid part. He would obviously know what his weapons were being used for, but when he is kidnapped by the "terrorists" and a fellow prisoner dies helping him to escape he is all like "I never knew my weapons were being used for such horrible things" and "I can't make weapons if they're gonna fall into the hands of these people." Well duh! Weapons are for killing people, Mr Stark and the risk of your weapons falling into the wrong hands is part and parcel of owning a weapons company.
So after this he turns from Mr Asshole into Mr Superhero and says "I have to make up for the wrong I have done, I know this is my destiny, I don't want to make weapons anymore, I want to save people!" So he sets about building himself an iron suit and becomes Iron man. The sudden transition and change in personality was just stupid, though. That would never happen and it didn't seem remotely real.
But it was still a good movie for the most part. Special effects were good, fighting scenes were cool, and Iron Man looked like Iron Man. Overall I give it 7/10. If you haven't seen it yet then I advise going, but watch out for the things I talked about above and see if you feel the same way. I will leave you with some images from the movie.

06:08 pm - Bought a new camera
A few entries back I mentioned needing to buy a better camera. Well, I did. I also bought an external microphone and light which can attach to the top of it.
Its a Sony hdr-sr10e. It has a 40GB hard drive disk, up to 15 hours of recording time, 4.0 megapixels and 15x optical zoom, as well as countless other features. It also takes photos. So yeah, its a pretty awesome camera. Took some getting used to, though. Oh, and the LCD screen is touchscreen which is pretty cool.
